Next Up - The Raiders of Richmond

The Buccaneers had to, as a result of a tie, play South View this past Friday to determine their seeding in the 2012 North Carolina State Tournament. The winner would earn the #3 seed out of the Mid-South and would have to travel to Richmond County while the other team would earn the #4 seed and travel to Scotland County. In addition to the pitching performance of Junior Dustin Adams and some error-free defense, the Buccaneers squeeked out two runs on five hits and beat the Tigers 2-1. As a result, the Buccaneers will travel to Richmond County on Friday in the First Round of the state playoffs. According to Coach Young of Richmond, parking is going to be limited as a result of the Relay for Life activities going on at the same time. Make your travel plans accordingly. Further information will be provided later this week.

Jack Britt at South View - Sort Of

The tie-breaking rules for high school baseball have played a large role in Jack Britt baseball over the last couple of days. As a result of a tie-breaker, Jack Britt earned the #3 seed in the Mid-South conference tournment. With both Jack Britt and South View losing in the second round of the tournment, the Buccaneers and the Tigers will face off once again for the right to hold the number three seed in the NCHSAA State Playoffs for 2012. The winner will own the number three seed from the Mid-South and the other will hold the number four seed. The teams will square off on Friday evening at 600pm at South View with the Buccaneers being the home team. This agreement was made to also accomodate the Mid-South conference tournament for softball which is also being held at South View. Their game is at 700pm. This should set the stage for a wonderful and electric environment.

Jack Britt and South View split the season series with each holding home field advantage. Jack Britt won the first game 6-3 and South View won the second game 12-2.

Mid-South Conference Tournament

The Mid-South Conference Tournament continues tonight as #4 South View takes on #1 Terry Sanford at 500pm. Following the conclusion of that game, the Buccaneers (#3 seed) face off against #2 Cape Fear. The Colts are coming off of an impressive win against E.E. Smith last evening while Jack Britt beat the Falcons of 71st for the fourth time this season. The Buccaneers split the season series with the Colts, losing the first game 3-2 and winning in the second contest 4-2. The winner of tonight's contest will face off against either South View or Terry Sanford on Thursday at 700pm. Come out and support your Buccaneers!

Senior Night v 71st

Come to Jack Britt Field tonight as Coach Dague and the entire staff celebrate the 2012 Senior Night with parents, friends, and fans. After defeating the Colts of Cape Fear on Friday in an extra-inning showdown (Score 4-2), the Buccaneers look to continue their winning ways. They will face a scrappy 71st team that battled them for seven innings in last conference meeting (Britt-4 and 71st-3). Tonight we will honor, before the start of the varsity game in a brief ceremony, the following players and team managers. Also, the first pitches will be thrown out by the parents to their sons.
